While waitressing I met a couple who wanted to know about our lifestyle. Before they left, they said they knew it wasn’t possible that we would know their friends, but would we have a way of getting word out that they were looking for their long-lost RVing friends, Nell (Eleanor) & Clint Whiting from York, Maine.
Nell & Clint took off RVing and the last word they received is that they were at Yellowstone NP and have a place in Montana. Randy and Deirdre have moved from Maine to Mississippi and would love to reconnect with Nell and Clint. If you have any information to pass along, please send me a PM.
I’ll be heading up PCH 1 to Gualala, CA. I hear PCH 1 north of Bodega Bay can be pretty twisty. My rig will be about 42 ft. long total including my toad.
How difficult is it to haul long rigs up PCH 1?
What’s the posted speed limit?
Are there large enough turn-outs for me to pull over so I can let other vehicles pass me?
O.K. I need to ask this, and I am sure it is a stupid question but I can’t stand it any longer, what is the deal on the home town of Livingston, TX it seems like half the people in the Blog community is from here, I am sure their must be a reson, if not Livingston has more retired folks then Zepher Hills FL.
I need your help… My 5th wheel was damaged in the recent storms in SE Georgia. Roof damaged, water inside, cabinets ruined. I am solo camper and would appreciate recommendations for a reputable repair center. I’m near Twin City, GA.
I have heard of Mid State RV Center in Byron, GA and Camperland CSRA in Augusta, GA. It would be nice to have feedback on either of these places and their work … or someone else that you may suggest. It’s a 36 ft. Travel Supreme 5th wheel.
Thanks for any help you may offer.
Hi, I’ve mentioned a few times that I watch tv online. Well I decided to make a place on my karimafor movies and tv request for my fellow rvers..
I posted about a week ago, a video link to watch a movie and I had to take it off because it led to a site. I completely understand where they are coming from here..
Soooo If there is a movie or a tv show you are looking for request it and I’ll add it to my rver movie page.. Once I get a couple of requests I’ll put up the link to my site that will lead you to the video you want to see..
I watch movies and video online everyday and when I go to sleep at night it’s almost always to the John Stewart show or something like it. So it’s safe! Please post your requests and I’ll get to work!!
Here are some of the categories I watch:
Documentary – There is one on every subject you can think of
Online shows – I watch rv cooking show. A lady made a cooking show from her rv.
Movies – comedy, war, romance, anything you can think of.. I watch Leather Heads last night. (It was a cam copy not of the best quality but it was a good movie)
TV shows- One day when it was raining I watch all of season 2 of House.
News- NBC is great for news, CNN is online as well but I listen to the BBC radio and a local station out of Pittsburgh called KDKA
There are many more!
Every Wed. I’ll be posting a new movie for movie night if you want we can open a discussion group on the movie title!
There was an interesting article in the local newspaper yesterday and cost comparisons between 2004 and 2008. The cost of a bag of groceries from Walmart has risen 22% between 2004 and 2008–a bag costing $46.25 then costs $56.65 now. A 5 lb bag of Gold Medal Flour–$1.20 then; $2.52 now. Mazola Corn Oil–$2.85 then; $4.73 now. Gallon of Milk–$2.31 then; $3.04 now.
Lb. of Bananas–$.39 then; $.56 now. Dozen of Eggs–$.70 then; $1.92 now.
We’re in Boise, ID. Wages have risen 9.9%; Electricity–11%; Heating–12%; Gasoline–43%; and Houses–40%
Some of you may keep tabs on individual items and already are aware of the costs. I know we’re having to break some habits to stay within the bottom line of our budget. CC’s are a no-no except in an extreme emergency.
Can anybody give me a report on the Contoure under-cabinet coffee pot? I am looking for a new coffee pot for our RV and the Black & Decker w/ stainless carafe is a worthless piece of junk.
Someone on the Rae Commonsmentioned the Contoure a while back and after going to the web site, I saw that it also has the stainless carafe. It is priced from $80 – $100, but I could put that much in a Bunn and know that my coffee stays hot.
Have you noticed more families living in RV parks? We’re headed cross country and last night stayed in a park in Alabama. Our site was next to a trailer. The mom was cleaning the car.
When I stepped out of the truck I heard someone say “Hi”. I looker over and the cutest little brunette girl was smiling and waving at me. She looked about 6.
The park we wintered in in Florida had a family with 2 pre-teen girls. I’m wondering if this is a growing trend.
Has anybody traveled Hwy. 82 west across Mississippi? I am wondering what it’s is like. My new Atlas shows it to be a mostly multi-lane road.
Also, from Leland, MS to go over and take State Road 1 north along the Mississippi River, I figure that is a 2 lane road, but wondering about it’s condition.
We are also thinking about stopping at the Great River Road State Park along SR 1, anybody been there?
In January I decided to switch from Dish to Direct. They had a $20.00 a month rebate going on their web site and I wanted to upgrade my service anyway. I got a Direct TV number from an installer working next door. I called and was told I’d be getting the rebate.
I later found out I’d get a $10.00 rebate because I was dealing with some kind of agent of Direct TV and not Directly with the company. The gal at Direct agreed that I should have “read the small print”. Has anyone else had problems with Direct’s agents?
